Welcome to Crew 212!

Crew 212 is a new Venturing unit on the Monterey Peninsula that is focused on empowering young people to develop their leadership skills through service and outdoor adventure. We believe that leadership is best learned through experience, which is why our program is designed to provide hands-on opportunities for our members to take charge and make their own visions a reality. By working together, we can create a community of youth leaders who are prepared to tackle the challenges of the future.

What We Do

Crew 212's focus is "Leadership and Service". Our Crew is youth-led, meaning that youth members of the Crew are the ones who take initiative to plan and execute events. With this hands-on practice of youth leadership, we are able to do all different kinds of activities, such as camping, blacksmithing, improv, hiking, cooking, movie nights, beach bonfires, and community service. We've participated/volunteered in multiple community events on the Monterey Peninsula, like the 2024 4th of July Parade, the 2024 Big Sur Marathon, Cutting Day 2024, and the 2023 TaylorMade Pebble Beach Invitational golf tournament. This isn't all we're limited to, though. As youth leaders, we have the freedom to plan and participate in whatever activities interest us. This could mean anything from backpacking to shooting to painting. The spirit of Crew 212 is to connect with other like-minded young adults, explore our interests, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

How We Do It

Youth leadership is all about the youth, which is why our priorities lie with what the youth want to do as a Crew. Each activity is planned by Crew members at our weekly Crew meetings. Each time we plan an event, one member steps up as the planning leader and acts as the director for all its moving parts, delegating jobs and acting as the event's main contact. This gives each member equal opportunity to exercise their leadership skills and let their inner leader shine. This may sound intimidating to some, but Crew 212 strives to develop leadership qualities through both the success and the failure of our own plans. Crew 212 is a safe space to make mistakes as you learn. All Crew members work to support each other and have fun together no matter what obstacles may arise.
